Concept :Located in one of Tokyo’s most expensive residential areas, Paprika.hu has been instrumental in promoting Hungarian culture and cuisine to local Japanese since its opening in 2009. As the only Hungarian-owned Hungarian restaurant in Japan, Paprika.hu has established itself as the “go-to” place for authentic Hungarian delicacies among Hungarian food lovers and newcomers alike.
Key Points :With the Japanese having developed an increasingly exquisite taste for a fine cut of meat, the dozens of pork and chicken dishes served with fresh paprika at Paprika.hu has appealed to carnivorous locals. Particularly, a meal at Paprika.hu is never complete without the world-famous marbled Mangalica pork, the national treasure of Hungary that is high in nutrition and is cholesterol free.
Recommended Dishes :For newcomers to Hungarian food, besides the unmissable goulash (¥600ーcup/¥1,200ーfor two), Mangalica gypsy roast (¥2,600) is another national dish that is undoubtedly a “must”. Served with a side of fried potatoes, the gypsy roast consists of a tenderloin of Mangalica pork topped with slab bacon. Another traditional dish that is a sin to miss is Hortobagy-style pancake (¥2,100), a savory crepe stuffed with stewed meat with soda water used to create a chewy texture. The Hungarian pancake (¥800), which comes with various sweet fillings to choose from, is the perfect dessert to end your meal on a sweet note together with a glass of Hungarian sweet wine, Tokaji Szamorodni (Glass ¥1,500/Bottle ¥4,500~).
