コンセプト :Sri Balaji is a lifelong endeavor of businessman Thiyagarajan Selvan, who has strived to promote his home state Tami Nadu’s cuisine in Japan. Since 2007, when the first branch was opened in Nakameguro, Sri Balaji has contributed to bringing the previously lesser-known South Indian cuisine to the fore. Together with its second branch opened in Suidobashi in 2015, the restaurant now boasts a combined capacity of 100 dining guests with classic South Indian dishes from Tami Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala on offer.
キーポイント :The various delicacies served at Sri Balaji, primarily those native to Chettinad, are rich in flavor enhanced by assorted spices with medicinal value, notably tamarind, fenugreek seeds and turmeric. Such delicacies and their trimmings, notably dosa, sambhar and rasam, have become increasingly popular among local Japanese in recent years. Sri Balaji has also expanded to tourist destinations outside Tokyo, with the restaurant set to serve guests at ski resort Hotel Radiant in Nagano from December 2019 to April 2020.
お勧め料理 :As a one-stop shop for South Indian cuisine, Sri Balaj strongly recommends trying chicken chettinadu (¥1,500) and lamb madras (¥1,500). Madras mean kolambu (¥1,300) and Goan fish curry (￥1,300), paired perfectly with masala dosa (¥1,200), are a must for seafood curry lovers.
