Concept :
Tsukune Samurai Sakanoue is a very unique Japanese izakaya, specializing in “Tsukune,” Japanese chicken meatballs seasoned with fresh spices and other chicken dishes in a Samurai-themed environment. Sakanoue offers the original tsukune using very fresh chicken delivered directly from farms every morning and combining the ingredients to bring out the best flavors whether served grilled, or in a nabe (hot pot) or stew. Tsukune with no binding ingredient added provides the best taste, remaining juicy even after grilling.Key Points :
Located on a back street of upper Dogenzaka in Shibuya, it is finished in a traditional Japanese-house style to create a cozy atmosphere like an old Hatago Japanese Inn. Tenshinryu is a comprehensive martial art that keeps the tradition of the samurai spirit, with a 400-year history. There is a Tenshinryu Dojo set up in the restaurant that will offer private samurai sword lessons on weekdays and “Meet Sumurai” events on weekends. If you are lucky, diners can enjoy a genuine dynamic and exciting samurai performance with swords, along with delicious dishes served by hakama-clad staff. On the first floor, there are counter seats in front of open kitchen where charcoal-grilled tsukune is cooked. The second floor has sunken kotatsu seats, table seats, sofa seats and 3 private rooms.Recommended Dishes :
The signature dishes are charcoal-grilled tsukune (¥250/skewer) served with served with wasabi, spicy miso, grated daikon and egg sauce, as well as tsukune hot-pot in paitan soup (¥1,580/person) which have selection from yuzu tsukune or miso tsukune. An extensive a la carte menu includes a grilled chicken assortment (¥1,580), chicken sashimi, grilled A5-grade wagyu beef with rock salt (¥1,580) and Japanese tapas (¥380~). The “Tsukune Hot-Pot Course” and “Charcoal-Grilled Tsukune and Chicken Course” (¥3,000, ¥4,000 and ¥5,000) with all-you-can-drink (¥1,580) are recommended. A variety of drinks, including rare Japanese sake and shochu produced by the famous brewery Aramasa. The samurai performance and the best tsukune dishes at Sakanoue will be a great and unforgettable experience.- Address:
