Inspired by the movie “ 2001: A Space Odyssey, ” chef Go Ishii opened monoLith in 2010. For movie fans, the monolith represents progress and evolution. That is what Ishii is bringing to French cuisine. Located 10 minutes from Shibuya and Omotesando stations, diners will find a warm, chic and modern atmosphere to discover or rediscover French delicacies. With over 21 years of experience in French cuisine, Ishii has an extremely rich repertoire of traditional recipes and classic French specialties to choose from. monoLith often gets exclusive meat from foreign countries like pigeon Ramier from Scotland and lobster from Brittany, France or the British Isles. The sommelier and chef offer pairings of French and Japanese wines and the manager can also offer cocktails to complement the food. The lunch course starts at ¥8,800 and the dinner course at ¥14,300. Ishii and his team recommend the 3 meat pâté en croûte (French pie) with foie gras, duck and guinea fowl; the “monoLith egg” scrambled egg with honey cream and sherry vinegar; and the “bonne femme” turbot fillet served with a savory cream and egg sauce.
