With an unwavering commitment to being fully involved in every step of the farm-to-table journey for every dish served, Elio Locanda Italiana has played both the role of the supplier of fresh ingredients to its 10-men-strong kitchen and the restaurant of choice among its loyal customers for over 20 years. Located in the upper-class quarters of Tokyo, the 23-year-old Italian restaurant specializes in the cuisine of Calabria, which is situated in the southern tip of Italy.

Key Points :

In order to achieve the highest quality for its food, the highly celebrated Calabrian trattoria has made itself the sole party involved in the sourcing-processing-serving cycle for each and every dish served. Despite high costs, Elio’s insists on producing its own salami as well as house cheese made of milk processed at the restaurant’s own factories in Hokkaido, with its staff going out to the sea to catch the freshest fish. Also, Elio’s applies strict criteria on the origin of each and every imported raw material, and sources only freshest vegetables and beef from Fukuoka and Kumamoto respectively, for example.

Recommended Dishes :

Guests should try the carbonara di mare with sea asparagus, which is a rarely found vegetable, the house burrata cheese, and the catch of the day (¥1,700) featuring fish freshly caught on the day off the coast of Teshio, Hokkaido. As a successful restaurant frequented by patrons of all nationalities and faiths, Elio’s also runs a catering arm, Elio Italian Catering in Kojimachi, that serves, among other things, kosher and halal dishes made of the same and the freshest ingredients used for dishes served at Elio Locanda Italiana for as many as 2,000 guests at catered events. Elio Antica Forneria, located in Tokyo’s upscale residential district of Ichibancho, is an extension of Elio’s that serves gourmet pizza and pasta and is a great spot for private dining and buffet meals.
