MAVIE is a pioneer of organic wine founded in 1998. Their organic wines are made without using any herbicides or pesticides and only organic fertilizer is used in the fields the grapes are grown in. They do not add any coloring or flavoring, such as synthetic enzymes in making their wines. MAVIE deals exclusively in real organic wine acquired under strict EU organic certification. The owner, Tamura, who received the Agricultural Achievement Award Chevalier from the French government, visits and directly purchases wine from carefully selected wineries that share his philosophy of making organic wine. MAVIE’s wines are available only at MAVIE in Japan. MAVIE Akasaka carries 180 different organic wines, mainly from France. They serve about 10 wines by the glass (400~) and hold events, including wine seminars and parties. The Azabu branch stocks 650 items, including 150 organic wines and 500 types of organic food and vegetables.
