Concept :

The concept behind Wa-Eni is high-quality yet affordable washoku featuring shrimp and crab. In addition to relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant features an eight-meter counter and open kitchen. The point of pride at Wa-Eni is a hagama large-brimmed cooking pot at the entrance where takikomi rice with shrimp and homard lobster is prepared for all guests. The chef’s extensive experience comes from studying washoku in a Shimane ryotei before studying French cooking in Tokyo. Extra attention has been paid to the dishes the food is served on; high-fired ceramics such as Shigaraki or Onta and underglazed blue porcelain (Imari Koimari Sometsuke). Recommendations include seasonal vegetable dip with prawn bagna cauda (¥1,150), the lobster and foie gras savory egg custard (¥1,250), oyster and Yamagata beef sukiyaki (¥1,600) and Wa-Eni’s specialty; lobster and snow crab rice freshly cooked in the hagama for ¥2,400. Three chef’s choice courses range from ¥5,000 to ¥8,000. Drinks change with the season and include Dassai and Hakkaisan sake, as well as shochu, sours, Champagne and an assortment of fresh juices. Japanese desserts include such favorites as green tea bavarois (¥550-¥600) and a range of ice cream (¥300). Wa-Eni is the perfect place for a modern take on washoku cuisine.
