Concept :

Miyako Orimise offers authentic Edomae-style sushi in an intimate and luxurious setting. Fourth-generation ownerchef Noguchi’s youthful looks and mild manners belie his culinary skills. After training in Kyoto, as well as at a Michelin starred restaurant, he opened the Nakameguro branch to fulfill a promise made to his grandfather in high school. The interior was designed by one of only a handful of remaining “miyadaiku” (carpenters specialized in building temples) features koagari raised-tatami seating, a hinoki Japanese cypress counter and walls of Okinawan limestone. With daily selections fresh from Tsukiji Noguchi emphasizes freshness to best draw out the natural flavors while capturing the subtleties of each ingredient. The dishes, which fuse elements of washoku and sushi, can also be considered kappo. The evening omakase chef’s selection (¥13,000) includes appetizers, a nigiri sushi selection, zensai moriawase and a seasonal selection based on consultation with the diner. A wide variety of drinks are available, including sake such as Dassai and Hassen, fine wines ranging up to ¥60,000 bottles, sparkling wines, whisky and non-alcoholic beverages, perfectly complement the sushi. Miyako Orimise is the perfect place to experience Edomaestyle sushi.
