コンセプト:Tachinomi Tempura Kikuya, a new style of "tachinomi" standing bar, opened its doors in October 2015 in Ebisu and christened the Azabujuban branch in October 2016 with the goal of dispelling the image of traditional Japanese standing tachinomi bars and showing them as stylish and fancy places. Kikuya's spacious interior is finished in modern Japanese fronted with an expansive glass entrance.
キーポイント:Kikuya is smoke-free, making it a popular choice with women. Looking to be a trendsetter, Kikuya is the first tachinomi to introduce tempura; known as a high-class cuisine. A third branch will open in Kichijoji in 2017, followed by others in global cities. Their tempura boasts a light texture and is healthy thanks to their fat-less cooking style. Kikuya also features a la carte Kyoto "obanzai" dishes and sparkling wine from Portugal makes a perfect partner for tempura. English-speaking staff and menus welcome diners.
お勧め料理:The tempura starts at a reasonable ¥150 and includes items such as lotus root (¥150), squid (¥280), prawn (¥300) and unique items such as tomato and cheese with Genovese sauce (¥200), cod roe (¥280) and sea urchin (¥400). Rounding out the menu is the tempura "nigiri" sushi (¥480). For private parties of 30 to 40 people, an all-you-can-eat tempura and drink course is available from ¥4,000. For a unique take on tasty tempura in a tachinomi, Kikuya is worth checking out.
