03-3246-4768DIN TAI FUNG – Nihonbashi
Concept:
DIN TAI FUNG is a popular Taiwanese dim sum restaurant chain that was named as one of the top-10 restaurants in the world by the New York Times. The first overseas branch opened in 1996 in Shinjuku and created a "xiaolongbao" boom in Japan. DIN TAI FUNG has 17 branches in Japan and is a global brand with 110 branches in 10 countries.
Key Points:
To best enjoy these juicy pork "soup" dumplings that come served in bamboo steamers, guests should carefully scoop one onto a spoon, sprinkle a drop of vinegar soy sauce and some grated ginger on top, poke a hole in it, slurp out the broth and eat the rest.
Recommended Dishes:
Six types of xiaolongbao are available, including a truffle xiaolongbao (¥486). Over 20 varieties of dim sum, noodles, appetizers and soups are available and an extensive selection of drinks is available, including wine and Shaoxing. The Ginza and Ebisu shops offer spectacular views and private rooms (~8p) at the Ginza and Ebisu branches and a semi-private room (~20p) at the Yaesu branch are great options for gatherings. The course menus (¥4000~¥9,000) are recommended, and include the signature xiaolongbao, appetizers and main dish at these three branches.
